On 20th July, the Church of St Francis of Assisi, Cheras, hosted the Kuala Lumpur South District Eucharistic Congress, drawing parishioners from St Francis, Sacred Heart, and Holy Family parishes. The event aimed to deepen appreciation for the Eucharist through reflection, learning, and adoration. A key highlight was the three-part Eucharistic exhibition, featuring a multilingual video presentation, a contemplative prayer space, and a vibrant hall filled with children’s artwork, saint roleplays, and educational displays.
The Congress embodied synodality through strong interparish collaboration. The day concluded with Holy Hour and a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Archbishop Julian Leow, who encouraged the faithful to unite contemplation with service, like Mary and Martha. Homilies in Mandarin and Tamil were also delivered, ensuring inclusivity.
KL South District Senator, Fr Bonaventure Rayappan, emphasised the Eucharist as the path to eternal life and praised the organisers for rekindling love for the Blessed Sacrament. The Congress was a powerful expression of faith, unity, and transformation in the community.
