St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen was a German lawyer known as the “Poor Man’s Lawyer” for defending those who could not afford legal help. Despite his success, he left his career to follow Christ as a Capuchin friar at age 35. Known for his honesty, humility, and zeal, he became an effective preacher, bringing the Catholic faith to regions troubled by the Reformation.

On 24 April 1622, he was confronted by armed opponents who demanded he renounce his faith. Fidelis refused and was killed, becoming the first Capuchin martyr. His life is a powerful example of courage, fidelity, and selfless service. St. Fidelis challenges us to stand firm in our faith, use our talents for others, and remain faithful to God, even in the face of danger.

Reflection: Can I remain steadfast in my faith, no matter the challenges?
