St. Seraphin of Montegranaro was an Italian Capuchin lay brother known for his humility, simplicity, prayer and charity towards the poor. Born in Montegranaro in 1540, he grew up in a poor but devout family and worked as a shepherd in his youth. After the death of his parents, he experienced hardship and mistreatment from his older brother, but these difficulties deepened his trust in God.

At the age of 16, St. Seraphin entered the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin, serving in various friaries as a porter and questor. Despite his lack of formal education, people from all walks of life, including clergy and prominent leaders, sought his advice. He was also associated with spiritual gifts such as healing, prophecy and discernment of hearts. Yet he remained deeply humble, always directing attention away from himself and towards Christ.

His life was marked by simplicity, deep union with Christ, and great love for the poor and sinners. He died in Ascoli in 1604 and was canonized by Pope Clement XIII in 1767.

Reflection: Do my gifts and talents point others towards Christ?
