FROM LEADERS TO SHEPHERDS: RENEWING THE HEART OF BEC

Rooted in Christ and united in mission, our BEC Leaders and Zone Leaders came together on 8 August 2026 at the St. Padre Pio Room for a meaningful day of reflection, fellowship and renewal. Guided by Bro Nixon Ng Bujang and Bro Damian Prakash, the retreat reminded us that BEC leadership is not simply about organising activities — it is about building relationships, accompanying one another and becoming shepherds who care for the community.
Through Brother Damian's 4S — Sacred, Steadfast, Sharing and Shepherd — our leaders were invited to rediscover the deeper meaning of their calling: to remain rooted in Christ, faithful in service, generous in sharing responsibilities and attentive to those who may feel forgotten or disconnected. Through group activities and sharing, participants also reflected on the challenges within their BECs and how each community can become a place where everyone feels welcomed, valued and truly belongs.
Fr Paul Cheong, Parish Priest of SFA, encouraged everyone to keep alive the fire and passion that first inspired them to serve. The day concluded beautifully with a BEC-animated Mass, reminding us that everything we do begins and ends with Christ. May our BECs continue to grow as communities that belong, care, reach out and bring Christ into our neighbourhoods.
