What does the Bible say about joy and happiness?

The Bible portrays joy as a profound, resilient inner state anchored in faith and God's presence. It is frequently described as a "fruit of the Spirit" and a source of strength, remaining steadfast even through trials.

Happiness is often tied to external circumstances, but biblical joy transcends hardship. You can absolutely have joy without happiness. Philosophically and psychologically, they are very different experiences.

Happiness is typically a fleeting, surface-level emotion triggered by outside circumstances. If things go your way, you feel it; when those conditions fade, the feeling goes with them.

Joy, on the other hand, is generally considered a deeper, long-lasting state of being anchored in meaning, gratitude, and purpose. Because joy comes from within, it can endure even when you are grieving, struggling, or experiencing sadness.

I personally invite you to come to the Eucharistic Adoration - Holy Hour to meet Jesus face to face and experience true joy.

Shalom

Jesus loves you
