When Creation Leads Us Back to the Creator
More than 50 parishioners of St Francis of Assisi, Cheras, gathered for a beautiful morning of prayer, stretching, meditation and praise, organised by the Creation Justice Ministry in collaboration with the Health & Wellness Ministry, Prayer Ministry and World Community for Christian Meditation (WCCM), as we worshipped God through His creation.
It began with morning prayer, gentle stretching, breathing and meditation, preparing our bodies and hearts to become more present to God.
Through prayer, praise songs and the joyful Canticle of the Sun dance, we celebrated the beauty of creation and gave thanks to the Creator. The dance became more than movement; it became a prayer of gratitude.
Our planned outdoor nature appreciation had to be moved to indoor because of the haze. Yet even this became part of our reflection. We were reminded that creation is not simply something we enjoy, but a gift entrusted to us and our common home.
Through walking and sitting meditation, we slowed down and listened. The morning was also filled with fellowship, food, laughter and conversations, followed by another round of the joyful Canticle of the Sun praise dance.
We ended the morning's reflection with three minutes of silence before gathering in the chapel for Holy Mass, celebrated with a beautiful reflection by Fr. Paul Cheong on the seed, the soil and our responsibility towards creation.
“What kind of soil are we?” Perhaps even more deeply: “What kind of soil are we creating for others and for creation?”
May we continue to receive creation with gratitude, care for it with responsibility, and share its blessings with love.
May our hearts become good soil, our lives bear good fruit, and our praise become love in action.
