50 YEARS OF FAITH, ONE FAMILY IN CHRIST!
Despite the heavy downpour, the spirit of faith and fellowship shone brightly as more than 300 past and present Basic Ecclesial Community (BEC) leaders and members gathered at the Church of St Francis of Assisi (SFA) on 30 October 2026 to celebrate 50 years of BEC in Malaysia!
The golden jubilee celebration, themed “50 Years Journeying Together as One Family in Christ”, began with a meaningful procession of BEC leaders carrying their respective banners into the church, accompanied by the congregation singing A Call to Christians and City of God.
This was followed by uplifting praise and worship led by Brother Fred from KUBM, the parish's Bahasa Malaysia group, and inspiring messages from BECCOT Chairperson Anita Rajoo, SFA Parish Priest Father Paul Cheong and Father Mitchell Joseph, Ecclesiastical Assistant of ABECAT.
A special highlight was the presentation of commemorative plaques to former BECCOT leaders in recognition of their dedication, sacrifices and faithful service over the years.
The celebration also featured a memory lane exhibition showcasing five decades of cherished memories, a golden jubilee cake-cutting ceremony and joyful fellowship at the church's covered car park.
To our pioneers, past and present leaders and members, thank you for your unwavering commitment and for keeping the flame of faith alive throughout these 50 years!
As we celebrate this golden milestone, may we continue journeying together, strengthening our communities and bringing Christ's love into our homes and neighbourhoods.
